Family Night & Date Night

We had a lot of weekend of fun this past weekend.

Friday night Bob's medical group had family night at a Red Hawks baseball game. Normally, I think I would not have just decided: Hey, let's take a 9 month old to a baseball game at seven o'clock at night! Since Bob does have a little bit of a leadership position at work we decided to try it and show up for a bit.

Since we were headed to Bricktown and it has been a while since we've been there we decided to eat at Fuzzy's Taco right before the game. Blake is enjoying some beans and rice on the left. Then on the right you can see a nice lady behind us (in the gray shirt) photo bombing us! LOL! Bob says she must watch the Ellen show or something since they make photo bombing a sport.

Anyway, I think we only managed to stay through the 4th inning, but it was fun being in Bricktown on a Friday evening.

Saturday night we had a date night out while Mr. Blake went to bed for the night. We did actually pay a babysitter. It was nice to just go out and be the two of us again. We kept it simple and ate at a local sports bar, Louie's.

Then Sunday was Father's day and the two boys shared a nap on the couch. Overall a very enjoyable weekend.

Race for the cure

This weekend was the Race for the Cure in Bricktown. It is quite an amazing social event and supports a wonderful cause. I was on a team with several people from my gym, Fit for Her and Bob was with a team from the College of Pharmacy. It was a great experience.

I had a hard time concentrating on running because I kept reading the backs of people's shirts and seeing their loved ones they were honoring. So emotional!

you're already winners

Surprisingly (to some people) I have a slight interest in watching sports, specifically basketball and football. The only sport I enjoy playing is probably volleyball, but that's a different story.

I lived in Houston during five years of my childhood and that is where I picked up following major league sports. So when Oklahoma City was deemed big league enough to get a NBA basketball team I was stoked. However, I was not expecting any playoff games during the first 3-4 years because they of course need to build up the team.

Now they're in the playoffs of their second season against the Lakers. I'm so excited for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Even if they don't win again in this playoff series, I think they have worked really hard and have proved themselves.

It's nice having a home team to cheer for and follow. Last night we went to Bricktown for our date night and everywhere we went we saw local businesses with Thunder logos painted on the windows. This team is well supported, hopefully enough so that they won't return to Seattle.

I've seen NBA finals where the other team gets swept 0-4. At least the Thunder have one win over L.A. Here's hoping they can pull it off again tonight. Good luck Thunder!

the leaves are rustling gustily

Last week I got to enjoy one of my teacher holidays that seems "unfair" to the rest of the working world. FALL BREAK!!! And might I say that I for one have been enjoying our premature fall weather here in OK. I thought for the one week anniversary of fall break being past us, that it was time for a recap.

First, I came home Wednesday night and did all of my grading so I could enjoy the long weekend.

Then, Thursday morning I got to be a fun aunt and I had Audrey come over to the house and watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs with me. I must admit that was probably mostly for me, but she enjoyed it too. I bought the new DVD this month and I just haven't had time to watch it. What better excuse is there than to watch it with my niece. Our movie was followed up with lunch at Chuck E Cheese.

Thursday evening Bob and I helped serve a meal at the Lighthouse and then we headed home to chill out and watch "The Office".

Friday, was just one big date day/night. My dear husband accompanied me to the mall and I actually got to go to several stores, bought a new black jacket, and some make-up.

Yea for late lunches and having the restaurant to our selves!


Later that evening we had a big night out in Bricktown. Since this was the evening before the OU/Texas game it was not overly crowded for a Friday night, but not deserted either.

We ate dinner at the Bricktown Brewery and enjoyed the nice crisp fall evening as we walked outside. Finally, we got to check out the new Michael Murphy's Dueling Piano bar. Since it was not a very busy night we got to walk right in without having to wait, like we've been hearing about from several people. The piano players were a hoot, but I would not recommend this type of entertainment in the midst of company such as your grandma.

Overall I would declare Fall Break a success! Luckily this week of school so far has gone well, except that I have been getting hungry before lunch time. Sounds like I have gotten myself accustomed to eating more often during my time off. Oh well, time to get back into my routines.
