Family Night & Date Night

We had a lot of weekend of fun this past weekend.

Friday night Bob's medical group had family night at a Red Hawks baseball game. Normally, I think I would not have just decided: Hey, let's take a 9 month old to a baseball game at seven o'clock at night! Since Bob does have a little bit of a leadership position at work we decided to try it and show up for a bit.

Since we were headed to Bricktown and it has been a while since we've been there we decided to eat at Fuzzy's Taco right before the game. Blake is enjoying some beans and rice on the left. Then on the right you can see a nice lady behind us (in the gray shirt) photo bombing us! LOL! Bob says she must watch the Ellen show or something since they make photo bombing a sport.

Anyway, I think we only managed to stay through the 4th inning, but it was fun being in Bricktown on a Friday evening.

Saturday night we had a date night out while Mr. Blake went to bed for the night. We did actually pay a babysitter. It was nice to just go out and be the two of us again. We kept it simple and ate at a local sports bar, Louie's.

Then Sunday was Father's day and the two boys shared a nap on the couch. Overall a very enjoyable weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day

Six years ago I met my husband at church the Sunday before Valentine's Day, February 12, 2006. That was our very first encounter.

After five years of marriage, I'm still very much in love and head over heels for my hubby.

So far we've celebrated by going out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse on Saturday night, which inspired us to cook steaks at home tonight. Yum!

Usually we don't make a big deal of this holiday, but this year we've used it as an excuse to spoil each other.

Bob got me a kindle fire! It is so amazing. I got it on Saturday, so I've already had time to play with it and borrow a book on it from the public library.

After being shown up by him on the gift :o) I agreed to let him spend some extra money on buying a tool box/organizer for the garage.

However, I like to give gifts that I have picked out. So, today I picked up some tahini from the store (he's been looking all over the place for this to make hummus)and I also bought him some specialty beers for him to enjoy.

We love each other every day of the year, but it's okay to have an excuse to spoil each other I guess.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Happy birthday to my wonderful hubby!

Thus far we have already celebrated with dinner at Genghis Grill last night, Pho Lien Hoa with Pharmacy friends today, and Sara Sara cupcakes for dessert.

My birthday is also next Wednesday. It's been fun being married to my almost birthday twinkie. It usually calls for almost a week of celebrations. We will most likely eat dinner with both our families and finish next weekend out with a Super Bowl party.

Happy birthdays to us!

New camera & kitty outtakes

Thanks to the generosity of Wal-mart I was one of ten teachers at my school who received a $100 gift card. We decided earlier this year that we needed to upgrade to a new camera since the one we have been currently using is the one we bought before our honeymoon 4+ years ago. Now the decision was clear to go buy our camera at Wal-mart.

Since I have just wonderful taste, the camera I picked out was out of stock at the store we were in. My wonderful hubby looked online, called stores and tracked down a place where we could pick up the model of camera I wanted. Lucky me.

I've been busy with work and today was my first time to take it out and get to shoot with it. We usually send a Christmas picture each year to our extended families. Last year, we included Swarley in the picture with us, which took quite a bit of effort. This year we decided to include her, but not in the same picture as us.

Here are some outtakes from today's photo shoot with the kitty.

going to the chapel

And they're, gonna get married...

Well, actually it'll be at the country club.

This Saturday Bob's sister is getting married in Hot Springs, AR.

We're are so excited for them. Here's a pic of the happy couple.

At the end of Spring Break I was able to attend one of her wedding showers in Houston with some ladies from her mom's church.

We took this picture before we went.

This will be a big weekend for us. We'll get to leave Friday morning and spend some time with lots of family and friends. Looking forward to making some memories.

Happy Snow Day/Birthday!

Lucky me! I have celebrated my birthday two years in a row now with a snow day, meaning a day off from work.

It has been a glorious day of eating and relaxing. Often when I am browsing my facebook on days like this, I see people post about how they are bored. My advice to them is to make sure you marry your best friend. We have so much fun on days like this. With it being my birthday and all, my wonderful hubby has made me souffles for breakfast and pepperoni rolls for lunch, and there are also birthday cookies on the agenda.

I am a very blessed lady.

on the cover of a magazine

It's been a busy semester in pharmacy school and in my fifth grade classroom. We (the Kennedy's) have been going non-stop since October. In the middle of all the business, we had a fun surprise. The College of Pharmacy has put out a new magazine for recruitment and look who's on the cover!

Yup, that's my hubby! I am so proud of him. My low-key sweetie on the cover, ha ha! He is just so "thrilled".

OU vs Air Force

It's been a fun fall so far. This year we decided to go ahead and take advantage of OU student/spouse football tickets during Bob's last year of pharmacy school before he does rotations for a year. So, we have been busy each weekend going to the games.

Two weeks ago we went to the Air Force game. It was a special game for us since currently the Air Force is paying his tuition and has a job ready for him when he graduates. What is a person to do? I think my hubby handled his loyalties very well. Check it out:

This week is the Red River Shoot Out. We will be watching the game on television. Boomer Sooner!

our future is bright

Today is our 3 year wedding anniversary.

I'm finally to the point where I look at my wedding photos and wonder, "who are those young kids?"

I'll never be that young again, but I am really looking forward to spending many more years with Bob.

I got a gift in the mail for this occasion:

The title is "Life is so cushy with you by my side"

This really sums up our marriage. Being married to my best friend has been cushy, it's been fun and I cannot imagine living my life without Bob.

what a relief!

I already knew, but I was officially notified in the mail today about this:

My student loan is officially paid off! Luckily we don't have any credit card debt either, however I am not a stranger to that trap. This student loan was a result of some credit card debt I had in college. I sure have learned a lot about saving money and finances in general since then. I also have become more disciplined in that arena after getting married. It helps having a spouse who is highly responsible with finances. We do a good job of splitting up the responsibilities. I make sure all the bills are paid each month and he takes on the grueling task of doing our income taxes.

In other news I got to play with my Cricut this weekend. Swarley wanted to join in on the fun as well.

Saludos Amigos

Hello everyone! Last week we spent our time on the Yucatan peninsula at the Secrets Capri Resort in the Riviera Maya. It was a belated two year wedding anniversary celebration! The resort was all-inclusive and the beach was beautiful! All of the pictures in the collage above are ones that I took with our camera. It was just gorgeous! The workers at the resort were wonderful and a lot of them seem to be familiar with JFK. Any time we would tell them our name was Kennedy, they would respond, "like the president?" . I'm still getting used to the presidential references that go along with my married name, but it's fun.

We enjoyed relaxing on the beach and getting pampered. I got to finish reading Eclipse from the Twilight series and started reading the final book New Moon (edit) Breaking Dawn. Sounds like we had a lazy vacation, and we wanted to do just that! We're anticipating a busy school year with Bob starting year two of pharmacy school and me moving up to 4th grade plus tackling national certification. So, whenever we start feeling overwhelmed next school year I'll reflect back to this lazy vacation, and press on.

every color in between

It has not been an ordinary week, and I mean that in a good way. And this will not be an ordinary post. I'll be summarizing the week and then back tracking to the end of last month.

Monday night I got to babysit the two most cutest nieces ever because grandma was out of town! We got to play games and watch movies together.
Tuesday night my husband and I went out to eat for our two year wedding anniversary. So far our tradition has been to go out to eat somewhere nice where we have not been before. Last year we went to Musashi's Japanese Steakhouse and this year we went to 1492 Latin Cuisine. When we get back we take our picture using the timer on the camera. Yes, I enjoy being cheesy!

For the holiday weekend we decided to paint the dining room. We painted most of the day on Friday. It took two coats of paint thanks to our textured walls. Luckily, my man is a skilled painter and he did a fabulous job.

Before:
After:

Soon we will be working on painting some of the walls in our living room. White walls just do not go with the color of our new couches. Stay tuned.

Also, here is the lime cheesecake I made for my father-in-law's birthday last month.

While the in-laws were here we got to play guitar hero together on the wii. Fun stuff!

the best of friends

Two years ago today I married my best friend. It has flown by so quickly. Whenever we have friends who are planning a wedding we tell them it would be easier to just elope. Still can't tell if we're half joking on that. However, I am glad on how our wedding turned out. Both of our moms really went out of their way to make it extremely nice and we were able to share our special day with our family and close friends.

Would I do it all over again? Yes I would, in a heartbeat!

and wedding bells will ring

What a busy week! Every year right around Easter through the end of May, everything just seems to go in fast forward. Baby showers, wedding showers, weddings, Mother's Day, and graduations; all of these things happen right around this time of the year. Starting with last weekend, I will be attending one of these events for the next five weekends. It sure helps the rest of the school year go by a lot faster.

This weekend was a very exciting weekend for my family. My cousin, who is the oldest among our clan of cousins got married on Saturday. This is a BIG deal because this is the first marriage for her and her husband both. Everyone is extremely happy for them. They looked so happy together yesterday and I know that they will enjoy spending the rest of their lives with one another.

I did not take as many pictures as I would have liked, but here are a few that I thought I would share.

A bridal portrait of my cousin.
I got to hold my baby niece while her Mommy and Daddy were getting their picture made.

My fabulous husband and myself. We clean up pretty nice.

Another dear cousin and the brave soul who continues coming with her to family functions.
Will they be next?
